Maybe you’re about to go on your first overseas trip to Europe, about to go and work at a summer camp, or are just planning to travel interstate. Whatever the case may be, I hope that these 11 Must-Have Travel Essentials will help make your travel days just that little bit easier and a lot more organised.
1. Carry On Travel Backpack
The perfect carry-on bag doesn’t exist… oh wait… maybe it does?
The first item in my Must-Have Travel Essentials is a travel backpack/ carry on. I mean duh, you aren’t going to get very far without one lol. . . .
Travel bags can definitely get super pricey and a bit unaffordable. If you’re not willing to splurge on an expensive travel backpack right now, then I have your covered with this option!
You may have seen this bag all over Tik-Tok last year where it went pretty viral, and for good reason. In addition to it having many, many zippers and pockets for your belongings it’s also very affordable!
If you’re also travelling with a suitcase this bag slots right onto the handle bars making it easy to carry around the airport. Becoming the perfect travel bag/ carry on, and potentially exactly what you’re looking for.
2. Compression Packing Cubes
A lot of people talk about packing cubes and how they help keep everything super nice and organised in your luggage, but have you ever heard of compression packing cubes??
Game. Changer.
In comparison to normal packing cubes, you’re still able to fit all the clothes you need into them, however, you can then compress them even tighter. Freeing up so much extra space in your luggage, while of course, keeping everything organised!
Definitely a travel essential, and finally a fix for all the over-packers out there lol.
3. Travel Pillow
Comfort is important, we all know that. Flights are long and uncomfortable, we all know that. If there was one thing that will make your travel days more comfortable it is definitely this neck pillow.
Now, you could go out and buy any neck pillow and call it a day, but they are all just so… blah. Theres nothing special and nothing particularly comfortable about them.
This particular neck pillow is amazing because it will offer you so much more comfort and allow you to get proper sleep on your long haul travel days. It has a strap that attaches to the headrest of your seat creating stability for your neck while also stopping your head from falling forward or side to side.
You are also able to reduce the pillow to half it’s size with the protective bag it comes with. Making it super easy to travel with, while also protecting it from the germs of the airport.
4. Apple AirTags
This one’s pretty simple, tracking for all of your belongings while overseas.
Add one into your checked luggage, to your passport, to your wallet. Really anything that you want to be able to track.
Air tags are great and really give you more peace of mind knowing that you’ll be able to track your belongings if they get lost or stolen.
However, still try not to get anything stolen!!!
5. Hotel Room Lock
It’s a sad world we live in that an extra lock even needs to be considered, however, this is the world we live in and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
This specific door lock stops anyone from being able to enter your hotel room from the outside, even if they have a key to your door.
Seeing as it’s pretty small it’s easy to travel with, even if you’re packing light, making it super convenient for your safety and an essential for all travellers.
6.Universal Power Adapter
Power adapters are obviously a necessity and a non negotiable. When travelling it can get pretty pricey buying multiple different chargers for the different countries that you’re in.
Even if you’re only going to one country you still may have a layover in a country that has completely different electrical outlets.
So, the reason that this one is so great is because it’s a universal charging block. Meaning, well, that it’s universal and is able to be used pretty much anywhere in the world. lol!
Yep, no need to bring multiple different charging blocks for different countries. Which leads to less clutter in your bags and, less money spent.
7. Kindle
If you’re a reader like me, then this one is 100% a necessity. And if you’re not a big reader then this could be the perfect opportunity for you to become one!
In addition to having so many different books at your fingertips, Kindles are super small and lightweight which makes them perfect to travel with.
Plus, kindles have a backlight which makes reading in the dark possible. Perfect for long plane trips or bus rides.
The battery also lasts super long, sometimes you won’t need to charge it for weeks at a time. Amazing, I know!
8. Toiletry Bag with Built-in Jewellery case
Basically hitting two birds with one stone, a hanging toiletry bag that folds up AND doubles as a jewellery bag is a must!!
If you’re a skin care and jewellery gal like myself then this might just change your life. Or not, but it definitely might.
This specific toiletry bag has 4 spacious compartments, plus and easily accessible pocket for all of your jewellery.
Honestly love it, fits everything you need plus having the extra jewellery organiser pocket is a-ma-zing! Super convenient and keeps everything neat and organised.
9. Mini Portable Charger
Ok, but why are portable chargers so big and clunky? It’s unnecessaryyy!!
Especially with the long charger cable it’s so inconvenient and honestly, very stressful to walk around with. If only there was a solution for that. . . . oh yeah, a mini portable charger is the solution.
It really is such a simple swap but I swear it’s life changing. It takes up barely any room in your bags, plugs straight into your iPhone and is just so much more convenient to use anywhere, at any time.
Perfect for travelling the world, festivals, concerts, or even just every day life!
10. Black Out Sleep Mask
Now, back to getting a good night’s sleep, an eye mask that blocks out light will be your best friend.
And although you may look a bit like a bug when wearing this mask, you won’t regret it. The 3D design blocks out light while offering so much comfort by not squishing your eyes.
Perfect if you have lash extensions or, you know, just hate the feeling of regular sleep masks squishing your eyes.
Tip: Planes are super loud and noisy so earplugs will also be your best friend.
11. Portable Mirror with Light
This could be the one thing on this list that’s a little unnecessary, however, if you like doing your makeup and you’re planning on travelling, I’d definitely recommend it.
Usually bathrooms don’t have the greatest lighting. Especially if you’re balling on a budget and staying in a cheaper place, like a hostel. So for that reason this mirror is especially great because of the ring light which is easily charged just like your phone, meaning good lighting wherever you need it.
It also folds up flat which is great because it doesn’t take up much storage in your suitcase at all.
Alright, thats all I have for now. I hope that this post has helped you find the missing essentials that you needed for your exciting adventure!
